As the name might imply, this section focuses on my relationship with my home, Puerto Rico, and how this relationship became an integral part of my research. Through learning and writing about Puerto Rico, I also learned about decoloniality and how bringing the voices of marginalized groups into places where they’re not usually found can be a liberating tool.
The three pieces I chose for the section are:
- “Julia de Burgos: A Master Poet and Rhetorician”
- “Digital Memory and The Puerto Rican Protest of Summer 2019”
- “Making Culture Stick: How Puerto Ricans Turned Sticker Making Into Culture Making”.
Each of these pieces was written during a different point of my MA journey and I hope that by placing them together you can see what themes stayed, changed, or left as I continued to learn as a researcher.
